nature as an accessory.

as often as i dream about a bedroom filled with rich paintings, books stacked on the nightstands, luxuriously fluffy bed linens, and curvy lamps, there are times when i want the exact opposite. sometimes i just want something minimal, clean lines, simple linens, no clutter, no muss, no fuss. case in point, the bedroom of this beautiful (for sale!) australian home:

as my title says, this bedroom (and the entire house, really) uses nature as an accessory. it's the painting on the walls, it's the color scheme. it's the books on the nightstands, the curve of the lamps. yes, the architecture of the structure lends itself to the overall design of the room, but to me, the architecture is there so the natural surroundings are center stage. can't you just imagine, after a long, crappy work day, having this be where you recuperate for eight hours? can't you imagine how utterly perfect a lazy sunday morning spent here would be?
